Things to do

There are a wealth of activities and attractions in and around Bagnères to suit all ages throughout the year. Winter is dominated by skiing and other snow activities just as spring, summer and autumn you find cyclists, walkers, climbers and golfers.

The challenging golf course in Bagnères has panoramic views of the Pyrenees whilst the fast flowing river Adour attracts fishermen. Other activities include paragliding, canoeing, horse riding, tennis, cross country skiing and snow walking. The Tour de France passes through this area each year giving you a chance to watch the experts before trying to cycle the same routes.

The biggest ski resort in the Pyrenees, La Mongie is 20 km away with 125 km of pistes to suit all abilities. If you fancy trying cross country skiing or snow walking then nearby Payolle is the place to head with beautiful scenery and bars to have warming drinks after trekking through the crisp white snow. This area is also a firm favourite with children for sledging. Bagnères is well placed if you want to try other ski resorts as you can reach a number in around an hours drive.

The very adventurous can descend the Pic du Midi by mountain bike in summer and on skis in the winter.

There is also plenty to keep children busy, why not try the acrobatic trails through treetops or play the wonderful 18 hole mini golf course in Bagnères. Visit the animal park in Argeles Gazost or spot marmottes in the wild at the col du Tourmalet. See how many mannequins you can spot during the summer in nearby Campan & visit the museum explaining the origins of this unique custom.

Below are some links to websites that can give you ideas of what to do when you are in the area. We are happy to also advise you and Mike is a keen cyclist so can direct you to cols that suit your ability. Don't forget to collect your certificate for riding the col du Tourmalet!
